B of A Names Former DirecTV Exec to Its Board

Bank of America has added a high-profile technology executive to its board of directors.

The Charlotte, N.C., company on Thursday appointed Michael White, former chairman and chief executive at DirecTV, effective immediately.

White, 64, retired from DirecTV last July after leading the company for five years. His retirement coincided with the sale of the company to AT&T.

White also previously served as CEO of PepsiCo International.

In a press release, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan praised White's background in consumer and technology businesses, as well as his experience working in regulated industries.

White is currently an advisory partner at the New York investment firm Trian Fund Management.

Trian has a reputation for pushing for changes at other public companies, including Bank of New York Mellon. It does not have a stake in Bank of America.
