Fifth Third Taps TD Exec as Chief Technology Officer

Fifth Third Bancorp in Cincinnati has named Aravind Immaneni chief operations and technology officer.

Immaneni is currently head of retail distribution strategy and operations at TD Bank Group, where he oversees infrastructure and technology for the Toronto company's 1,280 U.S. branches. He joined TD in 2011 and previously held senior-level roles at Capital One Financial.

In his new role at Fifth Third Immaneni will be in charge of information technology and back-office systems. He will join the $143 billion-asset company on Nov. 14 and will report directly to Chief Executive Greg Carmichael, the company said in a news release Tuesday.

He will also hold the title of executive vice president.

Immaneni succeeds Joseph Robinson, who is leaving Fifth Third after 12 years to work with two tech startups, "both from a management and investor standpoint," a company spokesman said in an email. No additional details were provided about the startups.
