Texas Capital Hires BBVA Banker, Promotes Two More

Texas Capital Bancshares in Dallas has snagged a BBVA Compass banker and promoted two of its own executives.

The $22.2 billion-asset parent of Texas Capital Bank promoted both Mark Johnson and John Sarvadi to the position of managing director of regional and specialty banking, a new role at the bank. Texas Capital also hired for the same role Jim Recer, who had led U.S. corporate coverage for BBVA Compass Bancshares in Houston.

All three will report to Vince Ackerson, chief lending officer and president for Texas.

Johnson previously had oversight of Texas Capital's Austin, Fort Worth and San Antonio regional offices and its statewide commercial real estate and builder finance groups.

Sarvadi held primary responsibility for corporate banking in Houston and for Texas Capital's national asset-based lending and retail-franchise finance businesses

Texas Capital has recently been active in hiring outside talent. In March it hired Brian Frank, former head of restaurant and franchise finance for TD Bank, for the same business. In October, Texas Capital hired two executives to expand small-business lending in Texas.
