A different way to fundraise
Del Norte Credit Union sponsored a local event to help end local homelessness and drug abuse. Three community members entered a cash machine and, combined, caught a total of $4,500 over the span of 60 seconds. The funds were distributed across three local organizations by the Santa Fe, N.M.-based CU.
Homecoming heroes
Employees and volunteers of Hanscom AFB, Mass.-based Hanscom Federal Credit Union honored military personnel during a Heroes Homecoming parade. The employees and volunteers hosted a recognition ceremony and picnic to welcome service members back home.
Scholarly pursuits
Hopewell Federal Credit Union of Heath, Ohio, awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a recent high school graduate for the pupil's academic achievements.
Helping the homeless
Fort Mill, S.C.-based Sharonview Federal Credit Union assisted Charlotte Family Housing with a $2,500 donation to help the organization's shelter-to-housing program.
Debit card programs
In partnership with a local school, IC Credit Union of Fitchburg, Mass., donated $1,000 to kick off the school district's IC Cares to Share debit card charitable giving program.
Care packages for college
CAP COM Federal Credit Union along with its charitable arm, CAP COM Cares Foundation, selected 27 essay finalists who will each receive a care package for their upcoming college adventure. Packages will include dorm room essentials, such as bedding and school supplies, from the Albany N.Y.-based credit union.
Stellar students
Virginia Beach, Va.-based Chartway Federal Credit Union awarded seven $3,000 to students for a total award of $21,000 in academic support.
Helping children
San Diego County Credit Union was a CHOC Children's Hospital Sponsor of a Walk in the Park at Disneyland. The San Diego, Calif.-based CU's five Orange County branches held giveaways, including a chance to win a pair of Los Angeles Angels baseball tickets.
