Young entrepreneurs
A seventh grader crafted a business proposal to open a Parisian food truck that included a menu and merchandise, earning her the PFCU Get to Work Award from the Philadelphia, Pa.-based PFCU.
Promoting literacy
Hanscom AFB, Mass.-based Hanscom Federal Credit Union amassed nearly 3,000 books for their annual children's book drive.
Studying hard
Merrimack Valley Credit Union of Lawrence, Mass., awarded $10,000 worth of scholarships to nine high school seniors. The CU received 178 applications from 24 different high schools to compete for the awards.
Learning about money
Second grade students listened to John P. Buckley, Jr., president and CEO of Gerber Federal Credit Union, read a book called Money Madness to them. The Fremont, Mich.-based CEO discussed money management tips with the elementary school students.
Revitalizing the community
3Rivers Federal Credit Union of Fort Wayne, Ind., pledged their support to a community revitalization project with a $10,000 check.
Scholarly goals
Riverdale, Utah-based America First Credit Union recognized the scholarly achievements of 30 high school seniors with scholarship awards.
Removing trash
Clinton, Township.-based FreeStar Financial banded together to remove litter off of a highway and keep their habitat clean.
Working together
American 1 Credit Union announced a new partnership with Spring Arbor University at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new McDonald Athletic Center. The Jackson, Mich.-based credit union provided a $250,000 gift to the university.
Home run
Greenbelt, Md.-based Educational Systems Federal Credit Union celebrated literacy by sponsoring a Read & Hit a Home Run program that includes 200 schools and reaches nearly 35,000 students.
Accepting awards
Boulder, Colo.-based Elevations Credit Union accepted its community partner award from the League of Women Voters.
