Shreddin' one million pounds
Thanks to Veridian Credit Union's Community Shred Day, Iowans have safely discarded over one million pounds of sensitive documents through the Waterloo, Iowa-based CU's community event.
Golf classic
The PenFed Foundation raised a record amount for veterans and the military during its 16th annual military heroes golf classic. The foundation is affiliated with the McLean, Va.-based Pentagon Federal Credit Union.
Walking for St. Jude's
Employees of the Fort Mill, S.C.-based Sharonview Federal Credit Union participated in a walk that raised over $449,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Building playgrounds
Virginia Beach, Va.-based Chartway Federal Credit Union's board of directors and senior team helped construct a playground for Landon, a local 4-year-old receiving cancer treatment.
Top 50
San Diego County Credit Union was recognized as one of the top 50 community-minded companies in Orange County by the Orange County Business Journal.
Back to school cool
Advantage One Credit Union in Brownstown, Mich., collected school supplies for its Stuff the Bus Back to School event.
Debut ball
Members First Credit Union in Manchester, N.H., donated $15,000 to the Manchester Police Athletic League and sponsored the debut MPAL Ball.
Good deeds ahead
Merrimack Valley Credit Union in Lawrence, Mass., and its division, Bridgewater Credit Union, donated $6,000. The money went toward performing good deeds for strangers.
Making money moves
Contestants got to show off their financial literacy knowledge during the Money Moves Mobile, a challenge presented by Silver State Schools Credit Union of Nevada.
