Employees of Greater Eastern Credit Union in Johnson City, Tenn., can wear casual clothing each Friday so long as they make a $5 donation. The funds, totaling more than $2,000, were pooled together throughout the year and donated to a local ministry.

A $50,000 donation from PenFed Foundation in Alexandria, Va., to Bellevue West High School students will go toward building a new playground for an elementary school that serves active military families.

Lawrence, Mass.-based Merrimack Valley Credit Union along with Bridgewater Credit Union, which merged into Merrimack Valley and is a division of the institution, are hosting a shoe drive. For every pair of gently used shoes that are donated, $5 will be donated with a $10,000 donation cap.

Hawaii State Federal Credit Union donated $10,000 to the Hawaii Foodbank in the institution's 30th annual food drive. The Honolulu, Hawaii-based CU is accepting donations across its eight branches until April 12.

Heath, Ohio-based Hopewell Federal Credit Union sent the American Red Cross a $500 check. The money was raised by allowing employees to dress casually for a $1 donation.
