ASHEVILLE, N.C. – About 400 people gathered here last week for a preview grand opening ceremony at Mission Hospital’s new $59 million SECU Cancer Center, assisted by a $5 million grant from the State Employees’ CU Foundation.
The new five-story building will consolidate all of the health system’s outpatient cancer services currently scattered around the area. The building will house everything from state-of-the-art radiation treatment technology to a boutique, resource library and meditation room.
Services will begin moving into the SECU Cancer Center in early November. Patients will be notified about the date when the services they are receiving will be moved.
The $5 grant is the largest single gift the SECU Foundation has ever given, and the largest single credit union donation ever.
