Davis' efforts were part of the broader effort that marked the 10th Maine Credit Unions' Ending Hunger Walking Tour. Her trip took a month to complete and reached a record-setting 75 communities.

"For too many Maine people, walking to a food pantry is the only way they are able to feed their families," Davis said last week. "This walk represents this struggle, while raising awareness for this increasing problem in every county of our state."

According to the Maine league, Davis' travels involved more communities and more miles traveled than any previous trip, and reached from Kittery to Madawaska. The tour visited every Maine county for the sixth consecutive year. At each of the 84 credit union branches Davis visited, she received a contribution from the Campaign as a way to support her cause, the league said.

This year, the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger also made a $110 donation to a food pantry in each of the 75 communities that Davis visited.

Since 1990, the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger has raised over $3.9 million to help end hunger in Maine.
