ORLANDO, Fla. Passersby can be seen craning their necks this morning to look up at an 80-foot mural of a killer robot from outer space wrapping itself around the Fairwinds CU offices, a promotion for the new “Transformers” ride debuting this summer at nearby Universal Studios.
Drivers on adjacent Interstate 4 did a double-take during this morning's rush-hour commute after spotting the image, which also features crushed cars.
Universal is promoting the summertime opening of Transformers: The Ride -- 3D, which it calls a "sensory experience that puts you on the front lines of an intergalactic war." Universal says the riders will feel the huge robots grabbing at them on the amusement, which is based on the movie series.
The huge mural is almost identical to the promotional stunt Universal staged at Staples Center in Los Angeles last summer to promote the opening of the Transformers ride at its Hollywood park.
Video of the huge display can be viewed on YouTube.
