LOWER BURRELL, Penn. – A-K Valley FCU said its board has decided to close its Homewood branch after the outlet, robbed four times in the past two years, was burgled on New Year’s Day.
Credit union officials cited concerns over employee and member safety as the reason. Four times in the past two years, robbers armed with assault rifles stole money from the Homewood branch, terrifying employees and forcing the branch to hire an armed guard.
A-K Valley is sending letters to its Homewood branch members and advising them to do their banking at branches in Lower Burrell, 20 miles away, and Natrona Heights, 11 miles away.
