ACFE Certification Pays Off

HARRISBURG, Penn. - Pennsylvania State Employees CU has several Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) on its staff, and that certification and membership in the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, is priceless, according to Tracey Bray, director of PSECU's loss prevention and security unit.

"The knowledge you gain and the contacts you make are invaluable," Bray said. "In addition to the resources provided by ACFE, those contacts are just so valuable. When you come across something you're not sure about or you haven't seen before, you can talk to other fraud specialists to see what they know about it."

The certification process involves both an education and experience requirement, as well as letters of recommendation and a four-part test.
