Alleged Robber Pulled From Smoking Car

An alleged credit union robber was dragged out of the smoking wreckage of his getaway car last week amid flying greenbacks he had stolen a short while before from Grand Heritage FCU, after a high-speed chased ended when the thief slammed his getaway car into a pursuing police cruiser.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Robert Kucharski, led police down Indiana 2 on speeds up to 115 mph, swerving in and out of local construction zones and around tire- deflation devices thrown down by police in an effort to slow the vehicle. The chase ended after the getaway car hit a pursuing police cruiser, then was forced off the road as the suspect's car burst into flames.

Kucharski, who began tossing cash out of the car, refused to leave the vehicle but was tagged with a stun gun as officers pulled him free.
