CHICAGO – Alliant CU on Monday said its Alliant CU Foundation awarded $40,000 in grants to four charities chosen by voters on a Facebook election.
Online voting in the Make It Count charity campaign determined that $13,000 should go to BPW Foundation, which supports women veterans; $11,000 to Make-A-Wish Foundation; $9,000 to Scholarship America and $7,000 to DoSomething.org., a call to action for socially conscious teens.
“It’s been great having our members and others interested in charitable causes help determine distribution of these Alliant Credit Union Foundation donations,” said David Mooney, president of the $8-billion credit union. “The voting was done on Facebook to emphasize social media, a growing, viable communication channel for our Foundation and credit union.”
