GLENDALE, Ariz. – Arizona State CU announced yesterday it has replaced its eight existing self-service coin counting machines with Coinstar kiosks, and will add another Coinstar machines at its branches.
The Coinstar coin-counting kiosks installed at Arizona State locations offer the Coins to Cash and Coin to eCertificate features, as well as the ability to accept donated change for designated non-profit organizations.
For Coins to Cash transactions, members simply pour their loose, unsorted change into the Coinstar kiosk. Once the change has been counted, a voucher denoting the coin value is dispensed that the user then brings to the teller window to exchange for currency or deposit into their account. To use the service, credit union members pay a discounted coin-counting fee.
Members pay no coin-counting fee when they choose to put their coin value onto an eCertificate from national retailers such as Lowe’s, Amazon.com, JC Penney, iTunes and Cabela’s. A redemption code printed on the voucher makes it possible to make purchases online. For charity donations, the customer receives a tax-deductible receipt.
