Armed Robber Gets 20 Years In Prison

WICHITA, Kan. – A man who threatened tellers with a gun during last November’s armed robbery at Catholic Family FCU on Monday was sentenced to 20 years behind bars.

Deshane Gantt, 22, pleaded guilty earlier to one count of brandishing a firearm in a crime of violence during the heist, in which $7,803 was stolen from the credit union. Gantt’s getaway car driver, 20-year-old Christopher Crabtree, was sentenced to 51 years in prison earlier this month.

Prosecutors said Crabtree agreed to drive Gantt to the credit union. Gantt took a 9 mm pistol inside and told employees he didn’t want a robbery to turn into a homicide. He stuffed cash into a pillow case, which police found after stopping the car in which Gantt and Crabtree drove off.
