ASHLAND, Ohio - (12/22/04) -- A local man was sentenced to sixyears in jail for his role in armed robberies at Empire AffiliatesCU and a local gas station convenience store last year. JosephSzittai, 33, pleaded guilty to four charges in each case butreceived a reduced sentence for agreeing to cooperate in theinvestigation against an accomplice. Szittai, who claimed hiscrimes were the result of abuse of steroids and cocaine, stole$23,000 from the credit union.
