MIAMI The FBI on Friday announced a suspect was arrested and charged in connection with the Jan. 17 armed robbery of a Brink’s armored truck at a Space Coast CU branch in Sunrise.
The FBI said Christopher Ferguson, 40, was arrested late Thursday, but did not disclose what led the agency to him.
The robbery took place about 10:30 a.m. outside the credit union when two armed robbers jumped the truck guard and forced him to the ground as the money bags were ripped from his grasp. The two robbers took off in a getaway vehicle.
The guard managed to fire his gun toward the men as they fled and is believed to have hit one of the robbers. Officials said a second suspect is still at large.
Ferguson is in federal custody and is expected to face federal charges.
