LEAGUE CITY, Texas – Workers have begun preparation on a 30,000 square-foot home office project for Associated CU which will meet the "green" standards for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Among green features is a "cool roof" system meant to reflect the sun’s rays, keeping the building cooler and reducing demand for electric power by up to 10%. An arched window design will allow natural light to complement indoor lights, requiring fewer bulbs. Landscaping will be "drought tolerant," to name just a few energy reducing features, officials said.
The headquarters project will house 150 employees and is slated for completion around the first quarter in 2010.
