Bangor FCU Volunteer Ends 52 Years as Board Chairman

BANGOR, Maine – Don Soucy has retired as chairman of the board at Bangor FCU after 52 years – the only chairman the credit union has ever had.

Soucy took the helm of the board in 1956 when the newly chartered credit union was known as St. John’s FCU. As one of the founding members, he was elected “president” of the board.

Through the years, Soucy served as chairman of the Maine CU League and helped found Tricorp FCU, the state’s corporate credit union.

He also served the community, including 15 years on the Bangor City Council, three terms as mayor, as a member of the Maine Real Estate Commission, and he currently is on the Bangor Housing Authority.
