To date we have not seen legislation to tax credit unions in North Carolina. However, we hear the same rhetoric from community bankers and state banking trade association representatives that many credit unions hear. Whether it is FOM, trust services or business lending, any time credit unions reach out to provide new services to their members (growth, imagine that!) bankers use it as an opportunity to bring up taxation.
Bank attacks or not, North Carolina credit unions are committed to remaining involved in the political process and continue to work hard to build relationships with their local state senators and representatives, to raise PAC dollars, and to get involved in the election process each cycle.
