Branch Manager Charged In $80,000 Theft

DENVER – A branch manager at Westerra CU was indicted on charges of stealing $80,000 from the credit union’s Green Mountain branch.

Yolanda Gonzales, 42, was a branch manager between August 2011 and February 2012, a position that allowed her access to the vault. Gonzales allegedly stole cash from the vault on numerous occasions, each time adjusting the balances from teller’s drawers to hide the removals, according to authorities. In addition, Gonzales allegedly moved stolen funds around in family members’ accounts to conceal the thefts.

Gonzales faces one count of theft of more than $20,000, a felony, and two counts of money laundering, also felonies.
