ATLANTA – A repeat bank robber who joined his brother in the August 2007 hold-up of Atlanta FCU was sentenced to life in prison under the federal three-strikes law, for repeat offenders of violent crimes.
Carlton Hunter, 44, and his brother, Lamont Hunter, robbed the credit union branch in East Point, Georgia, on August 15, 2007. The two, both disguised with ski masks, terrorized employees and members and fired shots toward the bystanders as they fled the credit union.
The two were run down by police after a high-speed chase on the highway and abandoned their getaway car, leaving a trail of cash behind them. The brothers were found hiding behind a vehicle in the yard of a house about a block from where they had abandoned the getaway vehicle.
Lamont Hunter was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
