Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union President and CEO Jerry Miller announced he will retire from the Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based credit union in June.
Miller has been with the $217.9 million Carolina Trust for 20 years, 13 as president and CEO. During his tenure, Miller oversaw the implementation of shared branching, participation in CO-OP Financial Services’ ATM network, mobile deposits, mortgages and business loans, among other products and services.
He also spearheaded the credit union’s successful application for a community charter, which helped drive Carolina Trust’s growth from four branches to seven.

“It’s been a fun and interesting ride,” Miller said in a statement. “I’ve seen a lot of regulatory and technological changes in the banking industry. It’s fascinating to think how integrated and convenient banking has become. I’ve enjoyed almost two decades at Carolina Trust, serving members and supporting the credit union philosophy of people helping people. Even with technology – personal service is a component that cannot be underestimated.”
Miller has advocated for credit unions at the local, state and national level and also served as board chairman of Palmetto Cooperative Services.
Carolina Trust’s board has yet to appoint a successor.
