Center Named After Rosenthal

NEW ORLEANS - In honor of the help the Big Easy and its credit unions have received from the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions, ASI FCU here has named its Upper Ninth Ward community center for NFCDCU Executive Director Cliff Rosenthal.

To a standing ovation at the Federation's 33rd Annual Serving the Underserved Conference, ASI CEO Mignhon Tourne announced that the CU's new enterprise would be called the Clifford N. Rosenthal Community Center. The center is designed to show support to Upper Ninth Ward residents returning to rebuild their neighborhood. The Federation has helped to raise or leverage more than $1-million in an effort to help the city get back on it's feet.

"I'm speechless, which is something my friends will say doesn't often happen," said Rosenthal. "This is not my work but an expression of the faith of the Federation. We had to do something."

The community center is currently under renovation.

"Cliff Rosemthal is one of the community development credit union movement's greatest friends and we couldn't think of anyone better to help our community center be associated with the future," Tourne said.
