CEO Jailed For Stealing From Her Tiny CU

RICHMOND, Va. – The president of St. Paul’s Baptist Church FCU on Wednesday was sentenced to five years in prison, with all but nine months suspended, for embezzling $40,000 from the tiny credit union.

Debora Morris, 60, had previously pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $40,000 from the $300,000 credit union, which was recently closed.

Church leaders said between June of 2008 and April of last year they discovered suspicious financial activity while staff were conducting an audit.
