The proposed settlement calls for Certegy, a unit of Fidelity National Information Services, to reimburse losses from identity theft from records stolen by a senior database administrator and sold to a third party for marketing purposes. Under the settlement, no one person can recover more than $20,000 and the company’s total liability would be capped at $4 million.

Those eligible include anyone whose credit card, debit card, checking or demand deposit account numbers or information was included in the stolen database.

A federal court is scheduled to rule on the proposed settlement Aug. 2.
