WASHINGTON - More than 600 credit union volunteers worked at last Sunday’s 36th Annual Credit Union Cherry Blossom Run, which has been credit union-sponsored since 2002. Nearly half of the more than 12,000 runners were estimated to be credit union members. Runners from 13 countries and 48 states took part in Sunday’s event, which was run in mid-40 temperatures and intermittent rain.
Credit unions nationwide raised $1,036,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network through Credit Union Miracle Day Inc. CU Miracle Day Inc is a partnership of about 125 credit unions and affiliated organizations across the U.S.
Money raised by credit unions locally goes back to the Children’s Miracle Network hospital serving their area. The amount each credit union raises is also counted toward the national total contributed by credit unions.
