LAS VEGAS-Nevada Federal Credit Union last week became "One Nevada Credit Union" following a conversion to a state charter.

The new charter allows the CU to serve all of Washoe and Nye counties, along with continuing to serve all of Clark County. The new name, it said, "reflects a solid connection and togetherness with the areas of Nevada the credit union serves."

The name change was overseen by Weber Marketing Group, Seattle.

"We're excited about our new name and optimistic about our future," Brad Beal, president and CEO of the $667-million credit union, said in a statement. "With the struggling Nevada economy, the last few years have been challenging for the communities we serve."

A special meeting was held on Aug. 30, but according to a spokesman 99% of the voting was done by mail. One Nevada is the largest federally insured credit union in the state and is second in asset size to Silver State Schools CU.
