According to a statement released Friday by the $802 million CU, Anastasia died Dec. 5 at the age of 94.

A retired labor relations specialist at Raytheon, Anastasia served many roles on the RTN board of directors, including several years as first vice chairman. In 2013, he was named director emeritus in recognition of "more than 50 years of exemplary service on behalf of the credit union."

"Mr. Anastasia's ample contributions respected the best traditions embodied in the credit union movement," said Arthur Osborn, Jr., chairman of the RTN board. "We are grateful and proud to have counted upon him for his wisdom and dedication over the decades."

"Charles truly embodied the credit union spirit of people helping people. He was instrumental in creating a culture of service and respect for our members that prevails today" said Richard Wright, RTN's treasurer and CEO.

Founded in 1945, RTN is one of the largest credit unions in Massachusetts, with 50,000 members and 19 branches. Membership is open to employees and families of more than 600 employer groups.
