ATLANTA - CO-OP Shared Branching has approved a plan proposed earlier by subsidiary Credit Union Service Center Network Inc. (CUSCNI) that encourages shared branching networks to allow CUs to opt-out of third-party, non-credit union owned shared branching kiosks.
CO-OP Shared Branching said that through its Next Generation Network (NGN) it will offer its credit unions the choice to allow members to access their accounts through such service points, saying the rationale for its decision was twofold: to institute the CUSCNI board’s suggestion and to respond to numerous opt-out requests from its customer base.
“We think self-service kiosks are a good delivery system for credit unions to service members’ convenience needs,” said Carroll Beach, president/COO of CO-OP Shared Branching. “And, credit unions desire to control the location and governance of the kiosks.”
The new functionality is available to CO-OP Shared Branching credit unions beginning in the second quarter. Self-service kiosks owned and operated by credit unions will not be affected by this new option.
