LIVONIA, Mich. – Community Choice CU last week announced that its president, Roberta Bava, will succeed CEO Catherine Roberts, who is retiring June 30.
Roberts began her credit union career in 1976 as general manager/assistant treasurer at Trenton Resins CU, a small credit union with just 300 members. In 1983, she became general manager/CEO of Monsanto Emp. FCU. She became the CEO at Research FCU in 1991, which merged with Community Choice CU in 2007. The credit union now has $410 million in assets and serves 60,000 members in seven Michigan counties.
Upon her retirement, Roberts will assume the position of the credit union’s president of legislative affairs to devote more of her time to educating legislators about the value of credit union membership. She will continue to hold her position as secretary of the World Council of CUs.
