MSUFCU Joins SC24 ATM Network

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.-Service Centers Corporation, which operates the SC24 ATM network, and Michigan State University FCU reached an agreement whereby the CU will convert all of its ATM program support activity to SC24.

Security Service Breaks Ground

SAN ANTONIO-Security Service FCU has broken ground on a 128,000-square- foot facility on La Cantera Parkway here that will become its new 16-acre headquarters campus.

The 385,000-member credit union reports it will not sell the Security Tower facility that currently houses its headquarters.

Security Service now has 24 total branches.

SMCCU And HAEFCU Merge

LOS ANGELES, Calif.-Santa Monica Consumer's Credit Union and Hughes Aircraft Employees FCU entered into a merger agreement. SMCCU members will have full access to its product and service offerings. HAEFCU will assume all of SMCCU's operations and assets.

PFCU Opens New Service Center

PHILADELPHIA.-Philadelphia Federal Credit Union opened a member service center on Townsend Rd.

The Service Center features two ATMs, a full-service, 24-hour, drive up ATM, and a cash dispensing ATM in the lobby.

TTCU Donates Gifts To Children

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.-Tennessee Telco Credit Union donated more than $1,500 in gifts to 60 children at the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home.

The majority of the money was raised through weekly casual day donations.

NY League Thanks CUs With Flag

ALBANY, N.Y.-The New York State Credit Union League designed and produced flags displaying the new CU brand. They were provided to each credit union as a thank you from the league.

No-Surcharge-Fee Alliance Grows

EAST HARTFORD, Conn.-American Eagle FCU joined the SUM Program. The program is an alliance of credit unions and banks that agree not to impose ATM surcharge fees on each other's account holders.

Navy FCU Opens Service Center

MARYSVILLE, Wash.-Navy Federal CU has opened Everett Member Service Center here. The Everett MSC serves military and civilian personnel assigned to Naval Station Everett.

LorMet Installs Unique ATM

WELLINGTON, Ohio-LorMet Credit Union installed a full-size replica of a horse-drawn Victorian buggy, which houses a full-service MAC drive-up ATM. The horse and buggy configuration was the idea of CEO Daniel R. Cwalina. "We wanted to maintain the character of historic Wellington. This unique ATM placement does that and actually enhances the downtown area," Cwalina said.

CCSECU Contributes $25,000

VANCOUVER, Wash.-The Clark County School Employees Credit Union contributed $25,000 to the Clark County Skills Center Foundation to help build a new technology building at the Skills Center.The new building will provide space for 180 additional students.

Teachers FCU Opens New Branch

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.-Teachers FCU opened a new branch facility at Main St. in the new Arbor Lakes development. The interactive branch features a technology center with 24/7 access to member accounts through TFCU's personal access home branching system.

Brockton CU Offers New Service

BROCKTON, Mass.-Brockton Credit Union announced the availability of a new financial planing service offered through the Members Financial Services center located in its branches.

DCFCU Holds Open House

ECORSE, Mich.-Downriver Community FCU held an open house to commemorate the completion of its remodeling project. More than 125 attended the event, including community leaders, local credit union executives and members.

Maine League Releases Statistics

PORTLAND, Maine-The Maine Credit Union League released the following statistics for Maine's 86 credit unions as of Dec. 31, 1999: 579,989 members, more than $2.6 billion in assets, $1.9 billion in loans and $2.2 billion in shares/deposits.

SCCU Donates Aprons To School

YUBA CITY, Calif.-Sierra Central Credit Union's Beale Air Force Base branch has donated 37 aprons to the Lone Tree School art program. Branch personnel wore the aprons as part of the credit union's "clean sweep" signature loan promotion. The CU also plans to display the artwork of students in kindergarten through second grade students.

FAFCU Awards Young Artists

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.-First Atlantic FCU awarded cash to eight children for winning the credit union's "Cool Kids Holiday Coloring Contest."

Randolph-Brooks Opens Branch

SAN ANTONIO, Texas-Randolph-Brooks FCU celebrated the grand opening of its Mission South branch.

Col. Frederick Walters, vice chairman of the board said, "As we began 1999, our five-year development plan included the construction of a new branch by the year 2004. As luck would have it, we were able to take advantage of an opportunity to acquire property and speed service to our members."

CU Affiliates of N.J. Arrange Visits

HIGHTSTOWN, N.J.-Credit Union leaders met with State Assemblyman Peter J. Biondi at Manville Area FCU. The Credit Union Affiliates of New Jersey arranged a series of visits by members of the state legislature to New Jersey credit unions. During the meeting, credit union leaders discussed their efforts to educate members about financial management, why credit unions continue to offer the best rates and lowest fees in the industry, and what credit unions do to put their "people-helping-people" philosophy in action.

PCULA Hosts Youth Express Club

LOS ANGELES-Postal Credit Union of Los Angeles hosted its second annual Youth Express Club open house. HR VP Rodger Smock and staff member William Brinkley played Santa Claus for the children, while loan manager Georgina Duenas donned an elf costume and distributed cookies and gifts, which were donated by members and staff.

RCFCU Breaks Ground

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-Reynolds Carolina FCU recently broke ground for its new 85,000-square-foot administrative building. The three-story building will house approximately 150 employees and a large branch office to serve members. It will feature six drive-up lanes and two ATM lanes. It is scheduled for completion in Sept. 2001.

CUs Raise $104,000 For Hospital

ARVADA, Colo.-Rocky Mountain Region Credit Unions raised $104,000 for the Denver Children's Hospital. More than 60 credit unions participated in the "Link Up for Children's Hospital" program by selling paper links for $1 each. The credit unions connected the chains of links together and decorated their lobbies.
