MSUFCU Supports Museum

EAST LANSING, Mich.-MSU Federal Credit Union raised $32,325 for the Michigan State University Museum and its dinosaur exhibit. More than 900 people participated in the 5k walk/run event to support the museum.

PSCU Helps Break the Barriers

FRESNO, Calif.-Pacific Service Credit Union provided gymnastics equipment to Break the Barriers by donating $2,000 to the organization, which matches able-bodied children with disabled children to teach sports and arts.

ST. LOUIS, M0.-The Missouri Credit Union Charitable Foundation, Inc., and 10 credit unions have contributed more than $22,000 to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education study.

DATCU Receives Director's Award

DENTON, Texas-The Indirect Lending Department of Denton Area Teachers Credit Union received the Director's Award from the Children's Advocacy Center of Denton County in recognition of its Associate Member Program.

GREENSBORO, N.C.-The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation pledged $500,000 to Victory Junction Gang Camp, a North Carolina retreat for seriously ill children and their families.

Maxwell, Herring Awards Announced

RANCHO CUCaMonga, Calif.-Four credit unions from California, one from Nevada, and a California CU League chapter won first place in the Dora Maxwell Awards for Social Responsibility. One California credit union won first place in the Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action.

Rep. Moore Visits Free State CU

LAWRENCE, Kan.-Rep. Dennis Moore visited Free State Credit Union. The credit union is the first student-run CU in Kansas. It is operated by nine 6th graders.

"This student credit union uses realistic role-playing to educate young people about money management and responsible savings practices," said Moore.

LCU Raises $38,650 For Charity

NEW BERLIN, Wis.-Landmark CU raised $38,650 for the United Way. "We are pleased to have so greatly surpassed our goal of a 5% increase," said LCU President Ron Kase.

A plaque recalling the heritage of the credit union was posted in the Buckley Air Forse Base branch lobby.

UniStar FCU Awards Scholarship

TARRYTOWN, N.Y.-UniStar Federal Credit Union awarded Ansel Lurio its student of the year $5,000 scholarship. Ansel, despite having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, placed in the top 5% of his class and will be attending Columbia University.
