MATCU Awards 19 Scholarships

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-Memphis Area Teachers' Credit Union awarded high school graduates Tiffany Davis, Erin Maguire, Melissa Middleton, Rashma Patil, Eric Setterlund, and Jennie Willingham $2,500 in scholarships. The following college students have had their scholarships renewed: April Campbell, Whitney Canale, Camilla Chando, Lauren Cox, Allison Cox, Jessica Fair, Summer Hardy, Janeen Johnson, Acquinita Jones, Abigail Lawler, Elizabeth Pruiett, Jacklene Robinson, and Arienne Thompson.

BOCA RATON, Fla.- IBM Southeast Employees' Federal Credit Union recently surpassed $600 million in assets.

MVFCU Holds Charity Golf Tourney

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.-Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union held a charity golf tournament to benefit the Emmaus, Inc., an agency that provides housing and service to homeless adults and families. The event attracted 144 golfers and raised $15,500 for the agency.

DCCUL Holds Charity Bowling Event

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-The D.C. Credit Union League sponsored a three-day bowling tournament and raised more than $16,000 for Children's National Medical Center.

Minn. Rep. Kennedy Visits AHCU

ANOKA, Minn.-U.S. Rep. Mark Kennedy met with credit union staff and league directors at Anoka Hennepin Credit Union. Rep. Kennedy discussed CUNA initiatives, the credit union difference, and he donated to Credit Unions for Kids.

PSCU Supports Housing Complex

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-PSCU Financial Services installed and dedicated an American flag at pinellas Village, which is a housing complex for low-income single parent households.

W. Va. Chapter Collects Cell Phones

WEIRTON, W.Va.-The Weirton-Wellsburg Chapter of the West Virginia Credit Union League sponsored a drive to collect old cell phones. The cell phones were programmed to dial 911 and were distributed to shut-ins and elderly people for emergency calls.

Rep. Simmons Visits CorePlus FCU

NORWICH, Conn.-CorePlus Federal Credit Union and the Connecticut Credit Union Association co-hosted a visit by Rep. Rob Simmons to thank him for his continued support of credit unions.

CUs Receive Desjardins Award

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.-Mission FCU, San Diego, Burbank City Employees FCU, Burbank, Calif., Credit Union Partners in Education, a program of the Sacramento Valley Chapter, Greater Nevada CU, Carson City, Nev. were honored with first place in the statewide Desjardins awards.

In other news, Santa Clara County Adult Protective Services and nine Santa Clara County credit unions have teamed up to form the Financial Institutions Team Project to help prevent financial abuse of elders. Included in the Financial Institutions Team Project are Capitol Power CU, Golden Bay FCU, Meriwest CU, Mission City FCU, Peninsula Postal CU, Santa Clara FCU, Star One Cu, Technology CU, Valley Cu, Guarantee Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank.

XFCU Manager Wins Scholarship

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.-Xerox Federal Credit Union announced that E-Commerce Project Manager Jeanne Kim has been awarded a scholarship to attend the 2004 World Council of Credit Union's International Leadership Institute.

USAFCU Awards 5 Scholarships

San Diego, Calif.-USA Federal Credit Union has awarded $1,500 scholarships, as part of the Martin P. Cassell Memorial Scholarship Program, to Sheerah Cole, Warren Gaoiran, Benjamin Lee, Emily Lyman, and Sean Sanford.

ECFCU Holds Clothing Drive

ALBANY, N.Y.-Empire Corporate Federal Credit Union held a two-week long clothing drive. Empire employees cleaned their closets, and gathered donations from friends and family. In the end more than 1,500 lbs. of clothing was gathered for the Capital City Rescue Mission.

CFCU Names Scholarship Recipients

ITHACA, N.Y.-CFCU Community Credit Union awarded 15 students $1,000 scholarships for their first year of college. The scholarships recipients are: Mikhail Agladze, Jenine Almahdi, Jill Aspinwall, Colin Cerretani, Corey Ryan Earle, Robyn Ellerbrock, Matthew Hammes, Bryn Horrocks, Joelle Horton, Courtney Leckey, Abigail Losh, Rachel Ostlund, Shawn Russell, Laura Smith, and Laura Teeter.

MS&DFCU Supports KidCare ID

NORTH WALES, Penn.-Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union helped Lansdale police Department with its KidCare ID program during Lansdale Day. More than 800 children participated in the event, which included a drawing to win a bicycle.

Delaware FCU Joins WalkAmerica

DOVER, Del.-Delaware Federal Credit Union members and employees participated in the WalkAmerica event and raised more than $4,700 for the March of Dimes.
