Conference Agenda Puts Emphasis On Attracting, Keeping Members

The agenda has been finalized for what promises to be among the very best and most rewarding credit union conferences of 2004.

The Credit Union Journal will host its fifth annual SEG & Business Development Conference March 4-5 in Orlando at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Using the model that has been very popular with participants at the first four Journal business development meetings, the agenda is packed with speakers who will share advice, strategies and practical tips on how to recruit new members from the community, how to sell the credit union to small business owners and other companies, how to better penetrate membership to obtain that elusive "share of wallet," and how to retain both members and SEGs once they have joined the credit union.

This year's meeting includes NCUA Board Member Debbie Matz discussing issues related to credit union growth; consultant Paul Lucas on managing the business development process; Keryn Marlatt of Westar Credit Union discussing WCU's branding efforts; Roy MacKinnon of First Entertainment FCU sharing his CU's strategy for attracting higher net worth people as members; Bill Myers of Alternatives FCU with insights into markets that many credit unions have never considered tapping, and much more. And the first day concludes with the very popular hour of Q&A with all of the day one speakers. A complete copy of the agenda appears on pages 12 & 13 in this issue.

Readers should please note that The Journal's SEG & Business Development Conference always sells out, and that it's important to register early. If you have questions, contact The Journal at 888-832-2929. You can register online at www.cujournal.com.

We look forward to seeing you in March in Orlando.
