Consumers Not Leasing Larger Vehicles

MIAMI — Activity in the leasing market supports that consumers are worried over gas prices and are unloading SUVs and trucks.

John Sternal, VP of LeaseTrader.com, told Credit Union Journal, that in the last 30 to 45 days consumers have been placing large numbers gas guzzlers on its site. LeaseTrader.com is a site on which consumers advertise their leased vehicle in an effort to have someone take over their lease.

"There seems to be that 'here we go again' mentality. People are thinking back to 2008, when we saw a flood of SUVs and trucks hit our marketplace."
