Founder and CEO Petere Jeye said much of the firm's success can be traced back to a commitment to sticking to the basics.

"We avoid the temptation to be all things to all people," he said in a statement. "This laser focus propagates a core competency among our management and consultants that is truly unique in the industry."

Trisa Wetzel, executive director of operations, said that the company's culture of being "humble, hard-working and totally focused on advocating on the behalf of our clients and building true partnerships with their software providers" has also helped it last two full decades.

EVP Linda Vick stressed how important the CU community has been to Next Step's success.

"The credit union industry has welcomed us from our first day—we thank each and every Next Step client for their passionate support," she said.
