Corp. Employees Are Walking The Talk

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Employees of First Carolina Corporate Credit Union are pledging to walk a distance equivalent to walking to every other corporate CU as part of a wellness program. Assembled by the corporate’s Wellness Committee, the goal is to help employees lose weight, get fit and improve their well-being through two programs:

* First Carolina Corporate NetWALK: With the goal to “walk” to each corporate in the country and U.S. Central, 28 staff members have started the trek, armed with First Carolina-provided pedometers to count their steps. Together, they plan to walk a total of 9,241 miles–or 20.3 million steps–by September. As they reach each “destination,” they’ll receive a small memento or token representing their “visit” to the corporate.

To date, the group has logged 247 total miles and are well on their way to their first stop–VolCorp, located in Nashville, Tenn.

* Lose David: Several First Carolina employees have committed to collectively lose weight totaling CEO David Brehmer’s body weight. Each week, the 14 staff members weigh in, along with Brehmer, to track their progress. Since the program started in late April, close to 20 pounds–or about 9% of David–has been lost.
