Credit union in Iowa is rebranding again

Alliant Credit Union in Dubuque, Iowa, announced that it is rebranding itself as AIM Credit Union.

The $161 million-asset credit union announced Monday that it is rebranding to help distinguish itself from the similarly named Alliant Credit Union in Chicago, and eliminate any member confusion. The new name is expected to take effect at the beginning of January.

“At the top of the list, our number one goal we hope to accomplish is continued growth … which allows the other businesses and segments that we serve a larger buy-in with Alliant,” Mike Moroney, president and CEO at Alliant, said. “It’s hard to talk about Alliant when the local utility is also referred to in the same way, so I think our new name opens a lot of doors for us in the future for growth.”

Founded by employees of the local electric company Interstate Power in 1933 as Interstate Credit Union, the credit union underwent its first name change in 1999 in response to Interstate Power rebranding as Alliant Energy.

“AIM: Alliant, Industries and Medical are three core groups that we strive to serve and are really who we are as a credit union, so it ended up being a no-brainer,” Moroney said.
