Credit Unions In The Media

Alky Danikas, who writes the Money 101 column for the Jersey Journal, recently told readers, "If you want to own part of the financial institution that you do business with without buying their stock, try joining a credit union." After providing the history of credit unions and some of their differences, Danikas pointed readers to www.joinacu.org, after observing, "I admit that I usually think of credit unions as being organized to serve a particular workforce or union. The website cites the purpose of credit unions as 'serving a field of membership' of 'people sharing a common bond.'"

Bethpage FCU was featured in separate reports on News 12 and on WNBC on how credit unions are faring in the current market. Brian Page, PFCU's CFO, was quoted by News 12 as saying, "In the financial services industry the credit is extremely tight, but at Bethpage specifically, it is not tight." Clarke went on to say that consumers will still need good credit in order to qualify for a loan.
