St. Louis Today offered a profile of Hubert Hoosman Jr., CEO of Vantage CU. The article noted Hoosman is the 12th of 13 children who grew up in East St. Louis, where his father was a schoolteacher and the late jazz trumpet player from Alton, Miles Davis, was a distant relative. The article acknowledged awards, in both credit unions and as a civic leader, that have been presented to Hoosman.
In Huntington, W.V., the Herald Dispatch featured the “Willing Workers” of Huntington Area Postal FCU, a group of volunteers who have been giving back to the community since 1996. The story noted some 30 employees and members of the board participate and outlines some of the fundraising and community outreach in which the CU is involved.
TheStreet.com reported that “No longer are credit unions simply mom-and-pop operations.” The article went on to profile the growth of CUs as financial services providers and noted, “Credit unions are somewhat of a financial services safe haven in today’s volatile consumer loan market.”
