(03/15/01) - Prosecutors areinvestigating charges that Donna Trowbridge, principal at HolyAngels Parish Elementary School, used her Kane County Teachers CUaccount to embezzle funds meant for the school district. Police areprobing whether Trowbridge, who has been charged with embezzlement,deposited $11,864 of checks donated to the school and governmentmilk subsidies in her credit union account, then spent the fundsfor personal uses. Family friends say Trowbridge, who has been onadministrative leave since being charged, used the funds to feed agambling addiction. Trowbridge allegedly forged the name of anotherschool administrator on three checks then made them out to herselfbefore cashing them, and has also been accused of stealing acomputer, scanner and printer from her school.
