CU Data Predicts Super Bowl Winner

The underdog Philadelphia Eagles will defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX on Feb. 6, according to a prediction from Callahan & Associates, which is basing its projection on a model incorporating credit union data from each of the two markets.

According to Callahan's, the company examined seven ratios to determine the financial strength of the credit unions in each team's respective city, and found that "Philadelphia credit unions are experiencing stronger growth and higher Return on Assets, and we feel that these will be their keys to success."

Earlier, Callahan's had used similar data to correctly predict that both Philadelphia and New England would win their respective conference championship games.

One caveat: last year, using state data (rather than city data) Callahan's predicted that the Carolina Panthers would defeat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. The Patriots won that game 32-29.
