A few quick news items from across the country, from the "in case you missed it" files:

Suncoast Launches Spanish Website

TAMPA, Fla.-Suncoast Credit Union, Florida's largest, has launched a website in Spanish to serve Hispanic visitors.

"We believe all members should have access to financial advice and money management tools," Tom Dorety, president and chief executive of Suncoast Credit Union, said in a statement.

Suncoast Credit Union also offers printed materials, financial statements, and Spanish-speaking services in its branches and through its member contact center.

Suncoast is the the ninth-largest credit union in the United States, based on membership, and the 15th-largest, based on assets.

According to the Pew Research Center in Washington, 23.2% of Florida's population is Hispanic.

NCUF OKs Biz Kid$ Education Grants

MADISON, Wis.-The National CU Foundation's board has approved seven new Biz Kid$ grants for 2014 to build students' financial literacy and economic education skills.

Biz Kid$ is a CU-funded public television series that teaches kids about money management and entrepreneurship. The Biz Kid$ education grants support CUs and state foundations in their efforts to extend the reach of the award-winning series.

The 2014 Biz Kid$ Education Grant projects are those from Buffalo (N.Y.) Metropolitan FCU; Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation in Farmers Branch, Texas; DuTrac Community CU in Dubuque, Iowa; Kansas City (Mo.) CU; Maps CU in Salem, Ore.; Missouri Credit Union Charitable Foundation in St. Louis; and Tallahassee-Leon FCU in Tallahassee, Fla.

Miracle Jeans Day For CMN Is Sept. 10

SALT LAKE CITY—Credit Unions for Kids, a fundraising program, invites CU associates across the nation to wear jeans on Sept. 10, in support of their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital.

For a $5 donation, employees can participate in Miracle Jeans Day, an annual fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which raises funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals.

"Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union supports Miracle Jeans Day because it's a great fundraising event for Children's Miracle Network," said Karon Sebar, community outreach coordinator.

Last year, about 55,000 CU employees participated in Miracle Jeans Day and raised more than $300,000 for member hospitals.
