“This is a value-added service credit unions want to provide more of,” said Jim Weaks, VP, business unit manager, self-service coin. “Members like it and it adds to member loyalty.” Cummins Allison said it now has offerings that let CUs own, lease or rent the machines. “We also offer a placement option that requires no investment. We place the coin counter free of charge and manage the entire coin counting solution for the credit union. Additionally, we provide a turnkey coin pickup and processing solution we manage for the credit union, eliminating the time-consuming task of coin handling.”

The company also lets CUs customize how they add coin counters to their branches, how the machines look and how they process the coins. “It is complete flexibility,” said Weaks.

Weaks added that studies show 64% of coin savers prefer to cash in coins at the CU.
