ALEXANDRIA, Va. - (01//20/06) -- NCUA announced Thursday that CUNA'stop two lobbyists, John McKechnie and Gary Kohn, are joining theagency as senior officials. McKechnie, CUNA's chief lobbyist whoworked at the trade group for 18 years, will serve as NCUA ChairmanJoAnn Johnson's congressional liaison. He will succeed CliffordNorthup, who was hired this week to serve the same capacity for theU.S. Mint. Kohn will become executive assistant and chief of staffto new NCUA Board member Gigi Hyland. The two worked closelytogether when Hyland was at CUNA. Another former CUNA operative,Holly Herman, former CUNA director, serves as executive assistantto Johnson.
