CUNA Presses Case For CU Uniqueness
WASHINGTON — CUNA met with White House officials to discuss a variety of credit union-related issues, including supplemental capital and capital reform, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and others.
Among the points the trade association tried to drive home about the CFPB: the importance of the new agency taking into consideration the different types and sizes of institutions when dealing with regulations.
"The answer isn't to just create new regulation," CUNA CEO Bill Cheney suggested. "It's just as important to peel back and revise old regulations, not just create new regulations."
It's a point Cheney said he has also made in five different meetings with CFPB's head, Elizabeth Warren, as well.
