WASHINGTON - Expenses for CUNA’s “Little Guy” lobbying campaign helped cut net income for CUNA to just $500,000 last year, form $2.9 million in 2006, the trade association announced last week at its annual Governmental Affairs Conference.
CUNA Treasurer Harriet May said operating margin for the trade association was a strong $3 million, but $2.5 million in losses on its ownership share of CUNA Strategic Services and costs for the Little Guy trimmed the net income for CUNA & Affiliates to $500,000.
CUNA spent $1.1 million on the Little Guy last year and expects to spend another $1.2 million in 2008, the second of the two-year public relation and lobbying campaign, in which credit union services for people of modest means is depicted.
Revenue, including dues, for 2007 was $57.2 million, while expense as $54.2 million.
