CUNA's PAC Raises New Funds After A Busy Month

WASHINGTON - CUNA reported that its political action committee raised $140,000 last month and spent $64,000, helping it to build its available cash to $235,000. An unusually busy period one month prior had depleted the credit unions' largest campaign PAC to just $160,000 at the end of March. CUNA had built up almost $600,000 in cash at the height of last year's mid-term congressional elections.

CUNA continued last month to cultivate co-sponsors of the CU Regulatory Improvements Act (CURIA), with $1,000 contributions to recent CURIA signees Bob Filner (D-CA), Don Young (R-AK), Dutch Ruppersberger, D-MD), Joe Baca (R-CA), Jon Porter (R-NV) and Steve Kagan (D-WI).

The biggest contributions last month went to Sen. John Salazar (D-CO), $4,000, and to two leadership PACs, Rely on Your Beliefs PAC, for Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO) and MiLead PAC for Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI).
